Acorn is currently a leader among forestry companies in the southeast specializing in prescribed burning, reforestation, and timberland management. Acorn was started in 1997 and incorporated in 1999 in Huntsville, TX by Justin Penick. Tree planting, herbicide application, and prescribed burning were among our first services and we have stayed true to those since, while adding other services to further assist our clientele. Acorn moved from Huntsville to Lufkin in 2003 and our current home office is based in Hudson, TX.ย
These days, Acorn employs a staff of degreed foresters and forest technicians to perform all of the necessary field work, along with support staff in the office and Acorn shop. Acorn conducts silvicultural operations on 115,000 acres annually across the West Gulf Region, and actively manages another 120,000 acres controlling all aspects of wildlife, timber, and restoration activities.
Acorn Outdoors employs a variety of individuals to ensure that all of your forestry and land management needs are met in a professional and timely manner with the utmost respect for you, your goals and your land. The people below are responsible for the day-to-day operations of Acorn Outdoors.

Today, as Field Supervisor, Leonardo oversees and executes critical on-the-ground work including prescribed burning, heavy mechanical operations, site preparation, and planting.
